a5c7b9f00b Switching between eras, Alcatraz focuses on the Alcatraz prison, which was shut down in 1963 due to unsafe conditions for its prisoners and guards. The show's premise is that both the prisoners and the guards disappeared in 1963 and have abruptly reappeared in modern-day San Francisco, where they are being tracked down by a government agency. In 1963, all the prisoners and guards mysteriously disappear from Alcatraz. In the present day, they resurface and a secret agency are tasked with re-capturing them. Seven episodes in and this still is going nowhere. The usual conspiracy based storyline of a mysterious force that has taken the 63ers and is sending them back mostly to kill people seemingly for no other reason than thats what they did before. Why some of them recreate their crimes and some do stuff that seems agenda base has not even been hinted at yet. The elite crack team running down these people consist of a bloke in his 70s who is/was a former guard 50 years ago and an FBI agent, some foxy cop woman who was related to one of the abductees who is important to the story and the huge fat bloke from Lost who gets the cool name …Solo….maybe he was related to a Man From Uncle. This laughable team in itself renders the whole thing sillythey simply run from place to place striking cool poses with gun and flashlight whilst the fat bloke pulls amazing and useful facts about Alcatraz out of his ass. They are assisted by some people who sit at a table from time to time, some 21st century guards who stand around looking cool and a couple of doctors who were transported from the Alcatraz past along with an array of cool looking computer sh#t. We know there is a mysterious room beneath Alcatraz which is opened by some magic keys the inmates were sent to get and failed miserablythey got caught and the woman's Grandad gives a lot of blood for some reason. What the room contains we don't know…..aliens, The Men From Uncle, JJ Abrams? Other than that it's simply the usual race against time to find the perp and stop his killing spree. It has all the ingredients of another series that will be dumped due to lack of ratings and lack of ideasso far every episode is a repeat of the last with some cut scenes from the 60s to add background. Better a one series show that has a start, beginning and end that actually make sense rather than a series 2 nobody watches followed by a cobbled together last episode with some nonsensical ending or even simply dissapearing without bothering to tell us what the hell was going on. ### well episode 13 has come and gone and wasunderwhelmingthe rest. Endless running around striking cool poses with gun and flashlight does not a story make and was done better by Mulder and Scully. The woman cop was the worst character in it but she had some stiff competition. But we will never know what it was all aboutlike Alcatraz itself….. this series is History. Finally, there is smart TV on again! This show is intriguing and makes you think. Not usually predictable! It is a refreshing change from reality TV and mindless television. This show needs to be saved for many reasons!! We are so tired of stupid, uncomfortable humor in TV that doesn't make you think. In a landscape full and gray plots, characters and a sense of purpose to the show, Alcatraz provides a bright spot of color that many viewers crave. While reality TV has become the norm, there is something to be said for the smart fiction, combined with a bit of history, that Alcatraz provides. It is the escape that many viewers are looking for.
